The La Salle College High School Tennis Team won the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) Team Championship with a victory over Roman Catholic on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. The win marked the Explorers fourth consecutive PCL Tennis Title.

The PCL Team Championship matches began with a win by the Explorers second doubles team of Tim Plamondon '10 and Mitch Abramo '13 (6-0, 6-1) and a win by the first doubles team of Rich Danze '12 and Harry Bonet '12 (6-1, 6-0). Following the doubles matches, Andrew Wilt '12, La Salle's third singles player, won his match in two sets (6-3, 6-3) solidifying the PCL Title for the Explorers. Brian Stefanowicz '12, La Salle's second singles player, won his match in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 7-5). The most exciting match of the Championship was between La Salle's top singles player, Christian Lutschaunig '13 (2-6, 7-5, and 6-4), and Roman's DeSean Fennell. The match went to three sets, with Fennell edging our Lutschaunig (2-6, 7-5, 6-4).

The Explorers now advance to the PIAA District 12 Championships to face the Public League champion. The Explorers will take on the winner of Philadelphia Central High School and George Washington High School, on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
