On Sunday, March 25, 2012, the La Salle College High School Varsity AAA Hockey Team defeated Bethel Park High School by a score of 6-2 to capture the Pennsylvania State Championship. The game, which was played at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center in Pittsburgh, saw five different Explorers find the back of the net.
Junior Andrew Grajewski '13 scored twice and Andrew Romano '14, Matt Williams '12, Nick Master '13, and Brett Supinski '13 each scored once. Senior goalie Andrew King '12 stopped 25 of the 27 shots that he faced.
The Explorers avenged a loss in last year's State Championship Game and captured their third State title in the last five years. La Salle won consecutive championships in 2008 and 2009. La Salle also won the State title in 1998.
La Salle finishes the season 24-2 overall and undefeated against all teams from the state of Pennsylvania. The squad also won their 2nd straight Flyers Cup Championship on March 14, 2012.
