The La Salle College High School Outdoor Track and Field team turned in an excellent performance on Saturday at Upper Darby High School in the PCL Championships. Despite entering the meet expected to finish 3rd, the Explorers just narrowly missed upsetting favored Father Judge High School placing 2nd overall.
The team began the day with some outstanding field event performances, highlighted by Mike DeCandido and Mike Koller both clearing 6'6" in the high jump to place 1st and 2nd. Luke Persichetti turned in a 2nd place in shot put and 4th place in the discus throw. Junior Corey Muggler jumped a new PR in the triple jump (44'3.5") to take 4th place. Finally, freshman Eddie Eason placed 3rd in the pole vault, while junior Chris McCrea was right behind him in 4th, both clearing 12'0".
On the track the Explorers received even more impressive performances. The 4x800m relay team of Brian Smart, Evan Quian, Mark DeSantis, and Jack Magee took home the gold to become 1st team All-Catholics.
