More than 500 people sent their camels to bed and gathered at La Salle on Saturday, November 1st to celebrate the Mothers' Club and Men of La Salle's 26th annual auction, "Midnight at the Oasis."

Auction-goers were wowed from the moment they arrived. The entrance was draped and tented to resemble a Bedouin tent, and the lobby was bedecked with enough baubles to satisfy even the most demanding sultan. The auditorium's silent auction tables featured an incredible array of items, and bidders were soon vying with one another for the right to take home their favorites. With La Salle's musicians providing the background music and teachers Mr. Chuck Cirelli and Mr. Mark Norman serving as emcees, everyone present caught auction fever as they moved on to the luxury tables.

Events really kicked into high gear as bidders moved into the gym, lavishly decorated in shades of aqua and gold for a phenomenal three-course dinner. No sooner had coffee and dessert been served when the auctioneer took center stage for the live auction. Items such as a one-of-a-kind La Salle surf board, a villa in Jamaica and another in Acapulco, and fabulous jewelry items were among the items that had the bids flying from one corner of the room to another.

By the time the gavel came down on last live auction item, auction-goers were more than ready for the respite that Mass and the continental breakfast provided. As the lights went out in the early morning hours of November 2nd, all agreed that "Midnight at the Oasis" has definitely earned a place among the best auctions ever presented at La Salle.
