Head Lacrosse Coach Bill Leahy Named to 2016 Under 19 National Team Coaching Staff
US Lacrosse announced the assistant coaches and support staff for the 2016 U.S. Men's National Under-19 Team on March 20, 2015. La Salle College High School Lacrosse Head Coach Bill Leahy has been named assistant manager for the 2016 World Championships in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
The assistant coaches and support staff will work under head coach Nick Myers (Ohio State University), who in February was announced as head coach of the U.S. Men's Under-19 National Team.
The U.S. Men's U19 team has amassed a 41-2 all-time record in international play, claiming gold in each of the seven U19 World Championship events to date (1988, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2008, 2012).
Coach Leahy has been the head coach at La Salle since 1992. In his 20-plus year career, Leahy has amassed 433 wins, the most of any high school coach in Pennsylvania history, and led La Salle to four state championships (2004, 2008, 2009, 2013) and a perennial place in national top 25 rankings. In addition to his high school experience, Leahy also runs the HEADstrong North Lacrosse Club. He was inducted to the US Lacrosse Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter Hall of Fame in 2012.
In addition to Leahy being named to the U19 2016 World Championship Coaching Staff, associate Head Coach Tony Resch will lead the US Team in the 2015 Indoor World Championships in New York this September.
