Explorers Shine at Regional Indoor Rowing Competition
La Salle rowers descended upon the Jake Nevin Fieldhouse at Villanova University on Saturday, February 7, to compete in the "Main Line Slide" ergometer race.

La Salle rowers descended upon the Jake Nevin Fieldhouse at Villanova University on Saturday, February 7, to compete in the "Main Line Slide" ergometer race. This is a regional qualifying event for the World Indoor Rowing Championships, which will be held on February 22 at Boston University.

La Salle rowers competed in six different events. In the Open Lightweight Men division, Tyler Nase won for the second straight year, outpacing the nearest competitor by 4 seconds. Tyler will attend Princeton in the fall. In the High School Lightweight (165 lb.) division, Zack Seigel, Paul Wisniowski and Dan McDonald placed first, second and fourth, respectively. In the High School Men heavyweight division, John Redmond, Adam Rotzal, Nick Shafer and Matt Stewart placed 10th, 12th, 16th and 18th respectively, out of a field of 77. In the High School lightweight division (150 lb.), Tom Lyons, Mike Veccione, Mike Lindsay, Kevin Foley, Gordon Lynch and Steve Obermeier placed 3rd, 7th, 10th, 11th, 15th and 17th respectively, out of a field of 43. In the Coxswain event, Tim Daly successfully defended his title in a winning time of 7:07. In the High School Freshmen event, Pat Eble, in only his second performance at the 2000 meter distance, notched a stunning victory in a blistering time of 6:47, 9 seconds ahead of his closest competitor in a field of 28.

Based on these results, the coaching staff has invited the following rowers to compete at the World Championships in Boston: Tyler Nase, Tim Daly, Zack Seigel, Paul Wisniowski, John Redmond, Adam Rotzal, Nick Shafer, Matt Stewart, and Pat Eble. Congratulations also to all the other La Salle rowers who competed at the Main Line Slide and so proudly represented their school; Will Begley, Mike Casciano, DJ Digney, Mike Ferrier, Mike Walsh, Jules Rodriguez, Matt Schluckebier, Kristian Benz, John Delaney, Caleb Weiler, Kyle Mischler and Colin Rothwell.
