The La Salle water polo team is getting ready to open their season. Last year, the Explorers earned a berth into the state playoffs and finished 5th in states. The 2017 season will be the beginning of a new era for this team.
The team went under a coaching change this offseason as Rob Halligan will take over the throne for the Explorers. It will not be an easy first season as the Explorers have scheduled numerous tournaments and scheduled some tough games creating a daunting schedule this season. According to assistant coach Kyle Finlay "this will force the younger class to step out of the shadows of the previous season upperclassman."
Key returning players will be able to keep this team in contention through the season and a bright future. James McErlean, Tom Dougherty, Rob Koch, will give this team great senior leadership. The junior class will be led by Matt Lewis, who as a class will need to rise to the challenge. Liam McFadden, Drew Dachowski and Tom Fiedler all give La Salle a nice future as well according to Finlay.
La Salle brings in some good Freshmen the keys to a successful season this year will depend not only the talent of the team, but how well the team can grow to come together. "Teamwork and Communication will be the linchpins our success will rely on." The Explorers will look to get back into states this year, follow along as the season progress through the Water Polo website and La Salle's twitter.
