Cross Country Team Finishes 2nd at PIAA Foundation Invitational

The Explorers are currently ranked 4th in the state in latest Coaches Poll.

The La Salle College High School Cross Country team, ranked 4th in the PennTrackXC.com coaches poll, travelled to Hershey, PA for the PIAA Foundation Invitational over the weekend. The team competed in one of the biggest meets prior to the State Championship, and turned in some great performances. The Varsity team was led by the junior duo of Brendan Price and Stephen Paul who each ran PRs of 16:50 and 16:51 to finish 17th and 18th respectively. Senior Eddie Goebel in only his second race of the year ran gamely to finish 21st overall and also break 17:00 turning in a time of 16:56. The scoring for the Explorers was rounded out by seniors Patrick Grant who fought well for a 26th place finish in 17:09 and Frank Livolsi moved up well to place 31st in a PR of 17:14. Added depth came from the PR of senior captain Nick Camusi in 47th at 17:31. The team finished 2nd place overall, only behind PA#3 and defending State Champions North Allegheny, and ahead of PA#6 Mount Lebanon and PA#5 State College.

The Junior Varsity performed equally as well in Hershey. The squad was led by a fantastic group of juniors: Greg Galbreath (PR of 17:38), Jack Galbreath (PR of 17:42), Quinn O'Neill (PR of 17:49), Tommy Farrell (18:03), and David Kennedy (18:06) placed 4th, 7th, 9th, 16th, and 19th overall to lead the Explorers to 2nd place behind the North Allegheny JV team.

Additionally, a second JV team raced at the Council Rock North Invitational at Tyler State Park on Saturday. That team was led by the excellent running from the freshman tandem of Sean Krummenacker (18:13) and Jack Seiberlich (18:29) who placed 9th and 15th respectively. The JV team's scoring was rounded out by Kieran Morgan in 20th (18:38) Liam Ward in 22nd (18:44) and Nick Cardamone in 25th (18:52).

The Explorers will have an off weekend before travelling to the Bronx, New York to compete in the largest high school invitational in the United States, The Manhattan College Invite at historic Van Cortland Park on Saturday, October 10th.
