After disappointing losses in the last two Philadelphia Catholic League Championship games, the football team defeated Saint Joseph's Prep on Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2015 to claim their 7th title in the last ten years (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015).

In front of an overflow crowd at Plymouth-Whitemarsh Stadium, the Explorers rallied from an eleven point fourth quarter deficit to defeat the defending two-time Pennsylvania State Champions and avenge a previous regular season loss to the Hawks. Senior quarterback Chris Fergusson threw two touchdown passes including a 23-yard strike to fellow senior Nick Rinella with less than a minute to play.

Rinella's one-handed catch in triple coverage is one for the ages and set-up a defensive stand that allowed the Explorers to secure the coveted "hubcap." Congratulations to the Explorers and Coach John Steinmetz '77 who won the Philadelphia Catholic Championship in his first year as head coach.

La Salle College High School advances to the District 12 (City) Championship game at Northeast High School on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 12:00 pm where they will face Simon Gratz, the winners of the Philadelphia Public League Championship.
