On a day when most teachers were heading back to school and busying themselves with preparing for the upcoming school year, over 100 members of the La Salle College High School faculty and administration kicked-off the 2017-2018 school year with a day of service in Philadelphia on Tuesday, August 29th.

Their day of service took them far from their classrooms, rather spending the day working with St. Joan of Arc, Rock Ministries and Visitation BVM grade school in Kensington; Women of Hope shelter and St. Charles Senior Center in center city; and St. Ignatius Parish and The Little Sisters of the Poor in West Philadelphia.

As they prepare for the return of their students in just a few days, the day was intended to serve as a small reminder of our daily calling to visibly live out the gospel not only in their vocation as teachers, but also as members of the broader community in which we live. #LeaveToServe
