La Salle Speech and Debate Hosts Annual Forum Invitational Tournament

35 schools and over 360 students competed in 11 events on Saturday, December 10th on campus.

On Saturday, December 10th, the La Salle Speech and Debate Team hosted its 36th Annual Forum Invitational. 35 schools including over 360 student entries competed across 11 separate events – including both Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions.

The day began with a 500 person assembly in the auditorium, with Team President Ben Fedgechin '17 leading the room in prayer. Competition continued throughout the day before the award assembly concluded the competition at 7:00 PM.

La Salle students and their parents helped provide hospitality for the over 120 judges and coaches that were also in attendance. The Explorers also performed well at the annual event. Patrick Calhoun '20 won Declamation at his second ever tournament. Ben Fedgechin '17 placed 2nd in Original Oratory. Desmond Young '18 and JV Fleuhr '19 placed 4th in their events, Original Oratory and Declamation, respectively. Aidan Young '18 placed 6th in Extemporaneous Speaking. Also being recognized for awards as semi-finalists were Brian Mischler '17, Bill Oxenford '17, John Santoro '18, Jack Martin '18, and Ian Mattson '19.
