Lacrosse Captures Philadelphia Catholic League Championship
The Explorers defeated Saint Joseph's Prep to win the program's 20th Philadelphia Catholic League Championship.

The La Salle College High School Varsity Lacrosse Team defeated Saint Joseph's Prep by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. The game, which was originally scheduled for May 23, 2016 at Neumann University, was played at Cardinal O'Hara High School and marked the 20th championship in the program's 25-year history.
The Explorers have won 20 of the 24 Lacrosse Championships in League History (1993, 1995 - 2002, 2004 - 2010, 2012 - 2014, 2016) and have defeated Saint Joseph's Prep in the finals 14 times and 11 of the past 13 years.
The Explorers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back. Senior Cody Mazurek (and one assist) and sophomore Matt Clibanoff each netted three goals and junior Chris Hladczuk added two goals and an assist.
The Explorers (17-3) will face the Public League Champions from Northeast High School (13-1) on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 5:00 pm for the District 12 (City) Championship at the Northeast Supersite. The winner of that game qualifies for the PIAA tournament and plays its first round game against the No. 5 seed team from District 1 (either Bishop Shanahan or Spring-Ford) on June 1, 2016 at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
