Swim Team Completes Annual Christmas Service Project

The La Salle Swim Team believes strongly in service and in trying to make the difference in the lives of others. Due to the grueling training schedule of 10 practices a week, finding time for service can be a challenge. However, the team was able to adopt a well deserving family who otherwise would not have had a Christmas. The family is a wonderful single mom with 3 charming young daughters, ages 2, 4 and 8.

The team received a Christmas wish list, donated their own money, and went Christmas shopping after an evening practice. Breaking up into 4 groups, the team took over Target with wish lists in hand. To witness these student athletes comparing outfits for the little girls and buying Disney Princess dolls was a sight to be seen. In addition to buying gifts, the team bought groceries so the family would be able to have special meals during the holidays.

When everyone was starting their Christmas break, the team wrapped gifts after their morning December 23rd practice. After wrapping and putting all gifts in large hefty bags, the team accompanied by Santa Claus and traveled by caravan to the family's house in Willow Grove.

The young girls were excited yet bashful when they met Santa. The team took over their entire apartment as the swimmers all wanted to come in and meet the family. The groceries were delivered and the gifts hidden so the young girls would be surprised Christmas morning.

To quote the appreciative mother of this family, "Thank you so much for helping make my girls' dreams come true!" The swim team certainly brightened the lives of this well deserving family.
