Over forty-five students in the Music Department at La Salle College High School traveled to New York City on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 to perform at De La Salle Academy in Lower Manhattan. Four different performing ensembles - the Honors Band, Lab Band, Competition Band, and Fourth Period Bands - played a concert at the school in an effort to encourage music and the arts. De La Salle Academy is a private, independent middle school located in Manhattan, and the only private, independent school in New York City for academically talented and economically disadvantaged boys and girls in grades six through eight. Following the concert, the students attended the matinee performance of Disney's critically acclaimed musical Newsies at the Nederlander Theatre and then had dinner in New York City. The trip is a tribute to all of the hard work and success of the Music Department.
