The stage at La Salle College High School will be transformed into The Middle Ages for four performances of Monty Python's Spamalot, a musical spoof of the Camelot legend and famous Arthurian fables. Based on the 1975 movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical opened in 2005 and no musical, pop culture reference, or Monty Python skit is left unscathed. From silly walks to flying cows to vaudeville sight gags, as a musical spoof from one of the most well-known comedy troupes of all time, audiences can certainly expect varied types of humor. The original Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols and featuring a cast that included the likes of Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, and Hank Azaria, received fourteen Tony Award nominations and won three Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical. During its initial run of over 1,500 performance, the musical was seen by more than two million people and grossed over $175 million.
