Mark Aita, S.J., M.D. is one of three brothers who attended La Salle College High School. He was born on May 27, 1949 and grew up in Queen of the Universe parish, Levittown, PA.  Upon graduation from La Salle in 1967, he entered the Society of Jesus and attended Fordham University. He went on to Medical College of Pennsylvania where he received his M.D. in 1977.
 
After serving an internship and residency at Indiana University Medical Center he studied at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley (CA) where he received his Master of Divinity in 1983. He was ordained in Baltimore, MD that same year.
 
At present, Father Aita is a staff physician at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, NJ. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine, Camden, and the School of Osteopathic Medicine. He serves as Clinical Instructor, Department of Medicine, at Thomas Jefferson University and Allegheny University of the Health Sciences.
 
Father Aita received Board Certification in Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1980 as well as the Physician Recognition Award. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and has qualifications in Geriatric Medicine.
 
In 1983, Father Mark, who is fluent in Spanish, saw his dream fulfilled in the creation of St. Luke’s Catholic Medical Services, serving the Hispanic people of North Camden where he is currently Medical Director, Internist and Gerontologist. He is also Associate Pastor of Holy Name Parish in Camden and founder of a Little League program composed of 25 teams with approximately 25 members per team. He is a believer in education and created a strong K through 8 program in his parish.
 
He is the son of Mrs. Palma Aita and the late S. Joseph Aita. He has two brothers, Paul, MD ’58 and S. Joseph, MD ’62 and a sister, Theresa Aita Tobias.
