2007 Founder's Gala at the Crystal Tea Room
Over 220 La Salle friends and family joined in the celebration of our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, at the elegant Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia's Wanamaker Building on Saturday, February 24, 2007. The event raised well over $60,000 to help fund need-based financial aid for deserving young men who would not be able to attend La Salle without such help.
2006 Founder's Gala at the Franklin Institute
On a crisp, clear and breezy Friday afternoon, Board members and sponsors of La Salle College High School’s inaugural Founder’s Gala gathered for a pre-event reception on the rooftop of the Franklin Institute and drank in the view of the City. As the sun faded, La Salle alums, parents, faculty and friends were ushered to the Planetarium for the premier of a video that was created to honor La Salle’s past and celebrate its future.
An entrée duet of Chilean sea bass and filet mignon, prepared by The Frog Commissary, was served in the rotunda with Ben towering above the nearly 200 guests in attendance. After dinner, few were able to resist the De La Salle Dessert Buffet, which was strategically placed amidst models and architectural renderings of the facilities plan envisioned for La Salle over the next decade. The Exceptions played a wide variety of dance music that appealed to all ages.
“It surpassed all our expectations,” Brother Richard Kestler, La Salle's President, said happily about the Founder’s Gala. “It was a great night to socialize and was the best social event La Salle has had in recent times." Just fewer than 200 people attended the event. Mary Frances Kelly, La Salle's Events Coordinator felt, “it was so successful, people were already asking about next year.”
The proceeds from the Gala will be earmarked for La Salle’s upcoming campaign – Fulfilling the La Salle Promise.
