Matt Rambo '13 Makes Verbal Commitment To Play Lacrosse at University of Maryland
La Salle College High School junior Matt Rambo has verbally committed to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland.
Rambo, ranked the #1 Young Gun in the country by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, scored 58 goals for the Explorers as a sophomore attackman. He was also considering Hofstra, Virginia, North Carolina and Johns Hopkins. La Salle finished the 2010 season with a 14-6 record overall.
Rambo will join former PCL Player of the Year Kevin Forster '11 and ACC Rookie of the Year Goalie Niko Amato '09 when he gets to campus in 2013.
Last season, he was named to the 2011 US Lacrosse All-American Team, All-Phillylacrosse.com First Team, and the Under Armour Underclassmen Team Philly. As a freshman, Rambo led the Philadelphia area in scoring with 78 goals and added 24 assists.
In an interview with the La Salle College High School TV Station WEXP, Rambo stated his reasons for picking the University of Maryland:
"I chose Maryland because I felt that academically, the size of the campus,the coaching staff and team was the best fit for me. I would like to thank my family, Coach Leahy,Coach Resch and all of the LaSalle coaching staff, Coach Ebe Helm from the Duke's Lacrosse Club and Coach Randy McNeil from Abington."
