The La Salle College High School Varsity Lacrosse Team defeated Saint Joseph's Prep 8-7 on May 23, 2012 to win the Catholic League Championship - the 17th PCL Title in Program History (1993, 1995 - 2002, 2004 - 2010, 2012). This was the 10th straight meeting in the championship game between the two schools, with the Explorers winning 8 of those matchups.
The Explorer offense was led by junior Attackman Matt Rambo who scored 5 goals. Goalie Corey Shaffer added 11 saves including two in the final minute to preserve the victory. La Salle trailed 4-1 midway through the 1st quarter, but stormed back to take lead for good 5-4 in the 2nd quarter. The defense held the Hawks scoreless for over 28 minutes in between the 1st and 3rd quarters.
La Salle finishes Catholic League play undefeated this season and are 17-4 overall on the season. The Explorers are currently ranked the number 3 team in the area in the Lax Power Rankings & PA Boys Media Lacrosse Rankings and number 20 in the country in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Boys Lacrosse Rankings.

The Explorers also defeated Public League Champions Northeast High School 19-2 on Thursday, May 24, 2012 to win the District 12 City Championship. With the win, the Explorers advance to the PIAA State Playoffs.
The Explorers will play District 1 fourth-place finisher Great Valley in the first round of the PIAA State Championship Tournament on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.
