The La Salle College High School New Mothers' Reception and Tea was held in the school's gymnasium on Sunday, September 23, 2012. This special event was the Mothers' Club's first opportunity to welcome the incoming mothers to the La Salle community.
Over 200 new mothers were greeted by Brother James Butler, FSC, President; Mr. Michael O'Toole, Principal; Mr. Dan McGowan, Vice President for Institutional Advancement; Mrs. Julia Maher, Assistant Principal for Student Affairs; and Mrs. Lisa Denton, 2012-13 Mothers' Club President.
Once inside, the mothers enjoyed mimosas and iced tea as they mingled. Silver teapots filled with fresh blue hydrangeas adorned the tables while handmade table linens added an elegant touch. After the blessing by Rev. Anthony Janton '69, a delicious array of tea sandwiches, salad, desserts, specialty teas, and coffee were served to guests by a few of La Salle's fine young gentlemen and by current members of the Mothers' Club Board.
The day included an amazing slide show of the Class of 2016's first days at La Salle created by Brother James Rieck. In remarks by Brother James Butler, Mr. O'Toole, and Mrs. Denton, we were reminded how quickly these four years at La Salle will pass and how transformative they will be for our our sons. We were encouraged to take an active role in this wonderful school community. The Mothers' Club looks forward to "making memories" with this new group of La Salle mothers during the upcoming school year.
