La Salle Swim Team Wins 22nd Consecutive PCL Title and 2nd Consecutive PIAA District 12 Championship
On Saturday, February 22, 2010, the La Salle College High School Swim Team was crowned champions twice in one day. In the morning, they became Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) champions for the 22nd year in a row. In the evening, they were named Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association (PIAA) District 12 Champions for the 2nd consecutive year.
On Friday, the first day of events, two new records were set by La Salle swimmers. The 200 Medley Relay Team of Rhoads Worster, David Speese, Phil Letcavage, and Andrew Sideras created a new League and Team Record with a 1:34:07. Rhoads Worster set a new Team Record in the morning for the 200 IM and then broke his own record in the evening with a 1:52:84. On the second day of events, Rhoads Worster swam the 100 Backstroke in a time of 51:53 at the District 12 meet to set a new League and Team Record.
A number of La Salle swimmers will advance to the PIAA State Championships March 17-18, 2010 at Bucknell University. The first place District 12 swimmers will automatically advance and additional swimmers will be named once the other PIAA State Districts complete their championships in the next 2 weeks.
