The La Salle College High School Varsity Football Team defeated Roman Catholic High School 16-6 to win the Catholic League AAAA Championship for the 4th consecutive season on Friday, November 11, 2011.
La Salle becomes the 4th Catholic League school in history to claim at least four consecutive titles, joining West Catholic (2006-11, 1943-46), Archbishop Ryan (1990-93), and North Catholic (1934-37). This is the 13th Catholic League Title in school history for the football program: 1955, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1989, 1995, 1996. 1998, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.
The Explorers are currently ranked as the #2 team in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Philadelphia Inquirer and improve to 10-1 overall on the season.
The squad will now face Public League Champion George Washington High School on Saturday at 4 PM at Northeast High School in the PIAA AAAA District XII City Championship Game.
La Salle defeated George Washington 31-20 in the 2009 District XII City Championship and Northeast High School 35-0 in the 2010 City Championship. La Salle won the 2009 PIAAA AAAA State Championship and were the 2010 PIAA AAAA State Runner-Up.
