On Saturday, November 6th at the Hershey Parkview Course the La Salle Cross Country team finished as the PIAA State Runner-up for the fourth consecutive season, making it the programs fifth straight season on the podium (top 2), and giving the Explorers six total podium finishes in their 14 years in the PIAA (the second most in State over that span).
The team ran hard and competed all race long, holding slight leads at the 1 mile and 2 mile check points before being overtaken by the defending State Champions from North Allegheny High School in the final mile. The Explorers were led by senior captains Will Rau and Zach Brill who battled hard to place 26th and 29th overall (for 17 and 19 team points) in 16:44 and 16:46 respectively. Next was the duo of Cole Casadei and Drew Brill who placed 36th and 37th overall (24 and 25 team points respectively) in 16:53 and 16:55. The scoring was rounded out by senior captain Francis Dougherty in 65th place (40 team points) running 17:15. Ryan McGinley placed 105th and Josh Lloyd placed 180th.
The Explorers scored 125 points, well behind North Allegheny's 63, but well ahead of Downingtown East's 184 in 3rd. The team will next prepare for the Running Lane National Championship Meet in Huntsville, Alabama on December 4th.
