La Salle College High School is pleased to welcome Randy Kapralick as a full-time member of the faculty. Randy replaces Joe Vettori who retired in May after 38 years as Director of Bands.
Randy spent the last fifteen years as a teacher and administrator at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he served as Assistant Dean of the School of Music, Department Chair, Director for Ensembles, and Coordinator of the Pre-College Summer Jazz Institute. He has taught over twenty different undergraduate courses at University of the Arts and served on nearly a dozen committees. He was Director of the University of the Arts All-Star High School Jazz Ensemble from 2009 to 2015 and has conducted numerous clinics at schools throughout the Delaware Valley.
Randy spent five years as the lead trombone for The Four Tops and has performed with numerous headliners including Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, KC and The Sunshine Band, Frankie Valli, and Mary Wilson. He is presently the lead trombone for the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia (under the direction of Terell Stafford) and the Philly Pops Big Band along with several other jazz ensembles and orchestras. He has performed on television with a number of artists and is a commissioned arranger and composer for several local ensembles and studios.
Randy holds a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz Performance from the University of Miami as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
