La Salle Community Gathers For Opening Of School Mass

St. John Baptist de La Salle wrote, “example makes a much greater impression than words” (Meditations for the Time of Retreat 10.3). The Religion Department’s freshman teachers ensured by their example that their students would be prepared for the first school liturgy, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

The four freshman religion teachers – Mr. Mark Collins, Br. Fran Eells, Mr. Bill Leahy, and Mr. Dan Williams – collaborated on an interactive lesson in the Chapel to review the parts of the liturgy and view the liturgical accessories. This annual tradition of the religion department provides important understanding of the liturgy while setting expectations for gathering as a community.

The liturgy for the Exaltation of the Holy Cross marked the opening of school and the induction of the leaders of senior clubs an activities.

Thanks to Bishop Joseph L. Coffey - auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Military Services - for joining us to celebrate our Opening of School Mass.
