Seniors Seamus Mooney '11 and Michael Smith '11 Receive Samuel A. Green Scholarship Awards from Firstrust Bank

Two La Salle College High School seniors, Seamus Mooney '11 and Michael Smith '11, were chosen to receive Samuel A. Green Scholarship Awards from Firstrust Bank. Mooney and Smith were two of just 19 students selected from over 350 applicants to received this year's awards.

The students were recognized at the 42nd Annual Samuel A. Green Scholarship Award Dinner held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at The Franklin Institute and were treated with a private tour of the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit. The scholarship recipients were from Philadelphia area public, parochial, charter and private high schools and were chosen based on their answers to an essay question about how they will use their education to help make their communities prosperous.

Firstrust's scholarship fund was named in loving memory of their founder, Samuel A. Green, who was a staunch believer in encouraging young people to pursue their education and fulfill their life dreams. In the spirit of his legacy, Firstrust is inspired to carry on a strong commitment toward helping students.
