Dan Lowry '08 Named 2nd-Team All-American in 5000M & Will Run in 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials
La Salle College High School Track & Field Alum Dan Lowry '08 was named a 2nd-Team All-American after finishing a great senior season at Brown University with an 11th place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the 2012 NCAA Track & Field Championships hosted at Drake University on June 9, 2012.
Lowry crossed the finish line in 14:00.04, and was the first Ivy League athlete to finish, beating Joe Stilin from Princeton who had defeated Dan at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Southern Utah's Cameron Levins won the championship with a time of 13:40.05.
In addition to being named to the All-American Team, Lowry was named Brown University's Male Student-Athlete of the Year and the Ivy League Spring All-Academic Team.
The senior from Plymouth Meeting just graduated from Brown University and will be pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Michigan in the fall. He was an All-American in both cross country and track & field this year. He also holds the Brown University school record in 5,000m.
Lowry also qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in the 5,000M by running 13:34:49 at the Stanford Invitational in April. He will be running at the Olympic Trials on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
