Dan Lowry '08 Places 18th in US Olympic Trials
On Monday night, June 25, 2012, La Salle College High School Alumnus Dan Lowry '08 competed in the 5,000 meter run at the United States Track & Field Olympic Trials at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, OR.
Dan placed 18th overall with a time of 13:56.08, just missing qualifying for Thursday night's 5,000m final by 2 spots and less than 5 seconds. On a cool, rainy evening on the campus of the University of Oregon Dan hung gamely with some of the finest distance runners in the world for 10 laps. As the pace greatly accelerated he closed well but just narrowly missed making the final.
Dan is the first La Salle graduate to compete in the Olympic Trials since Seamus McElligott ran the 10,000 meters in 1992.
