Wrestling Team Wins 5th Consecutive Catholic League Championship
The La Salle College High School Wrestling Team defeated Father Judge 39-25 on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 to win their 5th consecutive Catholic League Championship.

The La Salle College High School Wrestling Team defeated Father Judge 39-25 on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 to win their 5th consecutive Catholic League Championship.
The Explorers started strong behind pins by Sal Anderson (113), Pat McGinley (120), and Andrew McLaren (126) in the first three matches. Tim Walker (132), Greg Konieczny (138), Kolby Stein (160), Nathan Ezzo (170), and Antonio Pelusi (285) all notched decisions for the Explorers, while Anthony Piscopo (195) recorded a forfeit victory.
In addition to winning their 5th straight championship, the Explorers have now won 43 consecutive matches versus Catholic League opponents.
Head Coach Richie Gebauer had high praise for his squad after the match:
"The meaning of this championship holds much more significance because it is the first, in this championship run, for the Explorers without the likes of Matt Cimato, Casey Kent, or Bryan Pflanz – three guys that led La Salle to its past 4 PCL titles. This team, these wrestlers, let everyone know it is there time to represent La Salle Wrestling. It is there team now, and this 5th consecutive PCL title marks a new era for La Salle wrestling, signifying the present and future of this program."
Next up for the squad is the PIAA District XII City Championship (Dual Meet Tournament) vs Central High School at 7:00 PM on Friday at Central.
