Rugby Team Supports 9/11 Heroes Run and Travis Manion Foundation
On Sunday, September 8, 2013, over 40 La Salle College High School Rugby players, parents, and coaches, along with several members of the NHS, participated in the Norristown 9/11 Heroes Run sponsored by the Travis Manion Foundation and in support of the Brad Fox Foundation.
About 15 runners and walkers took on the challenging 5k course. The group even received two top finishing awards in different age groups.
"It was great to get back together as a team and support such a great cause," said senior rugby captain, Mike Cincotta.
The parent, player, and faculty volunteers contributed over 120 volunteer hours at the event assisting with registration, water stations, timing, and of course, enthusiastic support for all the runners.
When asked about the day, senior forward Pete Brooks said, "I'm glad we could help the Manion Foundation but this is also the first year for the Norristown Heroes Run and I'm happy we could help get it started."
Coach Jessica Nedzwecky, who helped organize the event, added, "it was a great day and we are truly looking forward to participating again with even more runners and volunteers next year."
The La Salle Rugby community was very happy to participate in the global event (there are more than 50 Heroes Runs worldwide) and contribute their time and effort to raise awareness and honor the fallen.
