Awards Assembly Features Performance by James Palmer '14
La Salle College High School held its annual Awards Assembly on Friday, September 20, 2013 and recognized student achievements and accomplishments made during the 2012-2013 academic year.
Principal Michael O'Toole '68 provided opening remarks. Mr. Tom Barna and Mr. Nick Coggins acknowledged a number of academic achievements including those students who were named as National Merit Semifinalists, National Merit Commended Students, and AP Scholars as well as those students with the highest grade point average (GPA) in each grade. Mrs. Julia Maher recognized students who participated in various clubs and activities and was followed by Mr. Joseph Ciccimaro '57 who recognized the winners of the awards for Art as well as those musicians who were part of the competition band that took top honors in last year's Cavalcade of Bands Competitions. Mr. Lew Clark acknowledged the students who participated in the school's various service projects as well as those juniors and seniors who participated in one of the numerous summer service trips. Athletic Director, Mr. Joseph Parisi, concluded the assembly by summarizing last year's athletic success and acknowledging all of the students who received All-Catholic, All-State, and All-American honors in 2012-2013.
The highlight of the event was a piano solo performed by James Palmer '14 who mesmerized the audience with his rendition of Franz Schubert's Impromptu No. 2, Opus 90 in E Flat Major.
