The Lacrosse Team at La Salle College High School suffered a 5-2 loss to DeMatha Catholic High School (MD) in the annual "Fallen Heroes Game" played on Friday, March 28, 2014, under the lights at the University of Pennsylvania's Ace Adams Field at Penn Park. The game honors the memory of two true American heroes: 1st LT. Travis Manion '99 (La Salle), who died in Iraq in 2007, and his best friend and roommate from the U.S. Naval Academy, Navy SEAL LT. Brendan Looney (DeMatha), who died in Afghanistan in 2010. The first "Fallen Heroes Game" game was played in 2011 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Game Two was played at La Salle, and last year, the game was held at Catholic University in Washington DC. Travis Manion played lacrosse in high school and wrestled at Navy. Brendan Looney played football and baseball at DeMatha. At Navy, he played football and lacrosse, and was a key member of the Navy team that advanced to the National Championship Game in 2004. Prior to the start of the game, the two teams gathered on the field for the playing of the National Anthem by former La Salle lacrosse player Nathan Ezzo '13. The captains for each team then presented flowers to members of the Manion and Looney families. Despite the loss, La Salle leads the series three wins to one.
