The La Salle College High School Cross Country team competed in their first major invitational of the season this past weekend at Belmont Plateau as part of the Briarwood Invite. The Varsity team, led by Ryan Mitchell (11th), Patrick Grant (13th), and Eddie Goebel (14th) placed 4th (tied for 3rd but lost on the 6th man tie-breaker) behind PA #4 Malvern Prep, PA #2 Cardinal O’Hara, and CB West.

The team exhibited very strong pack running, and despite having one of their top four runners drop out of the race was only 12 points behind Cardinal O’Hara, who has not finished outside of the top 3 in the PIAA in the past four years.

The JV A team placed 2nd (also tied but lost on the 6th man tie-breaker), they were led by Sean Princivalle (2nd), Jack Galbreath (6th), Greg Galbreath (7th), and Nick Camusi (13th).

The JV B team captured their race title, led by a 1-2-4-7-10 finish of David Kennedy, Stefan Sutton, Jeremy Puntel, Ian Challingsworth, and Kieran Morgan.

And the Freshman team also recorded a team win with Evan Addison bringing home the title in a blazing time of 10:02 for 3,000m. He was followed by Michael Reilly (10th), Liam Ward (17th), Garrett Pumillia (19th), and Chris Mulligan (27th).

The Explorers run in PCL Meet #3 this Wednesday, September 17th, then PCL Meet #4 on September 24th before travelling to the Carlisle Invitational on Saturday, September 27th.
