La Salle Defeats Top-Ranked Archbishop Wood
On Friday night, October 3, 2014, in a game that was the marquee weekend matchup in Southeastern Pennsylvania and arguably one of the top games in America, La Salle College High School, ranked No. 2 in the area, defeated Archbishop Wood who was ranked No. 1. The Explorers rallied from a 31-14 third quarter deficit to score three touchdowns in the final twelve minutes and stun the previously undefeated Vikings in front of an overflow crowd at William Tennant High School in Warminster, PA. Kyle Shurmur '15 threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns – all to Jimmy Herron '15 who now has 33 career touchdown receptions. The Explorers are now 5-1 and will open Philadelphia Catholic League AAAA play on Friday evening, October 10, 2014 when they face Saint Joseph's Prep (2-3) in a rematch of last year's Philadelphia Catholic League Championship game at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.
