Wrestling Team Recaptures Catholic League & District 12 Championship
The Wrestling Team at La Salle College High School traveled to Father Judge on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and defeated the Crusaders to win their sixth Philadelphia Catholic League Championship in seven years.
The Explorers used four pins (three consecutive) in route to a 40-38 victory. First-year coach, Frank Cimato, and his squad recaptured the championship they had lost last year to Father Judge.
The Explorers jumped to an early lead (18-5) and led by 14 with two matches left in the meet.
On Thursday, January 29th, the Explorers defeated Public League Champion Central High School to qualify for the PIAA State Tournament in Hershey.
The team will travel to Hershey's Giant Arena for the PIAA AAA State Tournament with a match starting Thursday, February 5th at 8pm.
