La Salle College High School Quarterback Kyle Shurmur '15 was named the 2015 winner of the Maxwell Club's Jim Henry Award on February 5, 2015.

The Jim Henry Award is given annually to the Pennsylvania or New Jersey high school player who excels in both athletics and academics, and serves his school and community.

"Kyle possesses all the qualities we hope to nurture in our student-athletes. He is an excellent representative of not only all of our student-athletes but the entire La Salle Community" said La Salle's Athletic Director Mr. Joe Parisi.

Mark Wolpert, the Executive Director of the Maxwell Club, added "Kyle has demonstrated excellence in every facet of his student life at La Salle. His performance on the football field speaks for itself and his effort in the classroom in a demanding academic environment at LaSalle is equally impressive. He is well equipped to handle the challenge of playing SEC football at Vanderbilt next fall."

Shurmur led the Explorers to an 8-3 record this season, throwing for over 2,500 yards and 28 touchdowns. He is also a member of La Salle's defending State Champion Swim Team and is involved with various community service projects on and off campus.

Shurmur joins current La Salle Offensive Coordinator and former Quarterback Brett Gordon '98 as the only Explorers to win the Jim Henry Award.

The Maxwell Club will hold its annual National Awards Gala on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.
