At the completion of the 2016 season, the cross country team only added to the rich history the program has. La Salle won their second consecutive Catholic League title, then went on to win their third consecutive city District XII championship. La Salle would finish fifth in the state championship.
La Salle had 17 runners named to the 2016 All-Catholic Cross Country team. The Cross Country season will get started with their first PCL Meet on September 6th. According to head coach Greg Bielecki, the team will compete in three important invitationals throughout the season "each increasing size and competitiveness that should help prepare us for the postseason." These meets will happen on September 16th, September 30th, and October 14th.
The team's expectations from Coach Bielecki going into the season is "to control what we can control – our thoughts/attitudes and our effort. We want to be a positive, supportive, hardworking, and tough competing team." La Salle has won the last two PCL championships and placed in the top 5 in the state the last two seasons. The goal will be "to build on that momentum and see what our best effort can place us." The Explorers will return three runners who competed in the PIAA State XC Championship last year who are Evan Addison (Sr) Vince Twomey(So) and Ethan Maher (So). Along with them are guys who "made a big jump during the track season." These athletes include Sean Egan, Matt Zilligen, Jack Seiberlich, Conor Christian.
Once the season gets underway look from continued growth and development from these runners. Check the website for constant updates on the season for the this team.
