Cross Country Captures District 12 City Championship

The Cross Country team captured their second consecutive PIAA District XII Championship (fourth in the last eight years) and, once again , qualified for the PIAA State Championship on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Hershey Parkview Course.

The Explorers were led by senior Eddie Goebel who turned in one of the finest individual performances for La Salle Cross Country in some time. Eddie stalked the O'Hara State Medalist duo of Rob Morrow and Ryan James throughout the 5k layout at Belmont Plateau. He waited until they had run more than 2.5 miles and made his move, which led him to a PR of 16:30 and the individual District championship. Eddie's phenomenal race was followed in short order by Steve Paul in 4th, Evan Addison in 5th, Frank Livolsi in 7th, and Brendan Price in 8th. The five La Salle scorers were separated by just 39 seconds and totaled a mere 25 points (to outdistance second place Cardinal O'Hara's 58 points). Once again the Explorers showed their depth by adding their 6th runner, Nick Camusi (with a PR of 17:22) in 11th, giving La Salle six of the top eleven finishers in the District.

When the Explorers travel to Hershey they do so as one of only three programs in the State of Pennsylvania to place in the top 10 in the PIAA in at least six of the last seven years since joining the PIAA. The Explorers placed 10th in the State last year, but were a mere 32 points away from 5th place.
