The La Salle College High School Cross Country team opened the invitational portion of their schedule with a strong and deep showing at the Briarwood Invitational at Belmont Plateau on Saturday. Running in the heat and humidity the varsity team battled to a runner-up finish in the competitive Championship race. The Explorers finished 2nd to PA #2 CB West by a scant 7 points (54-61). The team was led by the great races of Patrick Grant and Evan Addison who finished 6th and 8th in 17:00 and 17:04 respectively. The Explorers used their trademark pack running to round out the scoring with a 35 second spread as Brendan Price (11th in 17:17), Frank Livolsi (17th in 17:24), and Eddie Goebel (19th in 17:35) all turned in strong performances.

The JV A team of Jack Galbreath, Greg Galbreath, David Kennedy, Tommy Farrell, and Quinn O'Neill placed 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, and 11th respectively to capture the JV team title. Then the JV B team of Nick Cardamone, Liam Ward, Jimmy Lombardi, John Loftus, and Matt Pires placed 5th, 7th, 10th, 11th, and 15th respectively to place 2nd as a team behind only out-of-State Chaminade HS from Long Island. And then in the final race of the day the Freshman team captured the team title in their first ever race as a freshman squad. The team received great scoring races from Sean Krumenacker, Jack Seiberlich, Mac Costonis, Matt Szekley, and Matt Zilligen in 6th, 13th, 14th, 26th, and 36th respectively.

The Explorers will compete in PCL Meet #3 on Tuesday September 22nd, and then prepare for a split squad weekend with the Varsity team travelling to Hershey for the PIAA Foundation Invitational and the JV team travelling to Tyler State Park for the Council Rock North Invitational.
