Freshmen and Dads "Leave To Serve" For 17th Annual Branchout Day
Over 400 Explorers "branched-out" across the greater Philadelphia area, providing a day of service to the people of Kensington, West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, Center City and Bensalem
Tuesday October 9th, the entire freshmen class, more than 160 of their dads, and 25 faculty members continued the tradition of introducing the newest members of the La Salle community to our long standing commitment to service through our 17th Annual Freshmen Branch-Out Day.
Throughout the course of the day, the group was "branched-out" across the greater Philadelphia area, providing a day of service to the people of Kensington, West Philadelphia, North Philadelphia, Center City and Bensalem. They worked with 21 different Catholic Elementary Schools, Catholic Social Services Agencies, and other community organizations providing services to inner city children, the elderly, the homeless, those dealing with substance abuse, a crisis pregnancy, and mental health. A complete listing of the agencies is below.
Upon completion of this introductory day, there are no other mandatory service requirements placed on La Salle students. Yet despite that, last year some 85% of La Salle students participated on one of our weekly, seasonal, summer immersion programs.
