La Salle College High School Names New Basketball Coach
The school announced Michael McKee as its new Head Basketball Coach.
La Salle College High School has named Michael McKee as its new Head Basketball Coach. Mr. McKee is currently a coach at the Kent-Denver School in Colorado. He also has a long and distinguished experience as a basketball coach at Kings College, Lafayette College, the U.S. Air Force Academy, University of Richmond, University of Denver, and Regis University. He has also served as an advance scout for the San Antonio, Houston, Atlanta and Golden State teams in the NBA.|
Since late April, an inclusive committee of school administrators, La Salle basketball alumni and alumni parents, school athletic department representatives and school faculty, have engaged in an intensive and thorough search for a new person to lead La Salle's basketball program. The committee interviewed more than a dozen candidates, from among whom four finalists were selected for further interviews.
Mr. Michael McKee, a championship veteran of the Philadelphia Catholic League, and a graduate and player for Lehigh University, has accepted the position of Teacher and Head Basketball Coach at La Salle College High School, effective with the 2018-2019 academic year. Mr. McKee captained the 1990 Philadelphia Catholic League Championship Team at Roman Catholic High School. A Philadelphia native, Mr. McKee is married to NBC Denver television anchor and reporter TaRhonda Thomas and they are the parents of three children.
