La Salle Rugger Receives Premiership Rugby Scholarship
Senior captain Jack Desmond '18 has been selected by Aviva Premiership Rugby to represent his team in England this spring.

Recently a professional rugby match was played locally at Talen Energy Stadium between the Newcastle Falcons and the Saracens. Typically, these games are played across the pond but with the growing popularity of rugby in America, Aviva Premiership Rugby announced the "American Series," bringing several professional matches to the states in hopes to grow the game in America.
In addition to the exposure gained by the match (which also aired live on NBC), the players and coaches from the two participating teams held a series of clinics, essentially tryouts, for a Premiership Rugby Scholarship and an all-expense paid trip to England for an intensive rugby experience. 20 high school rugby players from across the nation were selected for this honor based on their ability and character.
