Members of Explorers Inc. traveled to Citizens Bank Park for an inside look into the Business of Baseball through the Phillies organization Friday afternoon, April 27th. Representatives of the Phillies spoke to the students and fielded questions about a career in sports from playing to working for a professional baseball team.

Scott Palmer and Tom McCarthy spoke about TV, Broadcasting, Announcing and Journalism. Former Player Gary Matthews and current relief pitcher Drew Hutchison spoke about playing baseball. Several directors discussed careers in Community/Charity Events, Marketing/Social Media, Tickets Services and the Phillies Intern Program.

The messages relayed to our students can be summed up with these 3 quotes given from these terrific professionals: "To climb the ladder one has to be on the ladder." The Phillies organization looks for individuals who have "Energy, Effort, Enthusiasm" and it was recommended to "Always Be Curious".

The students were also fortunate to see a great Phillies win against the Atlanta Braves and finished the evening with a concert by EDM fan favorite – Zedd.

Thank you Philadelphia Phillies!
