The La Salle College High School Track and Field team placed 9th in the AAA Boys PIAA State Championship over Memorial Day weekend at Shippensburg.

The team was led by the field event highlights of Grant Jones and Alex Sislo. Jones threw a career best in the javelin of 199-11, a PR of over 10 feet to capture the individual title. He had the 3 longest throws of the day.

Jones' title is the third individual title for the Explorers in the past four years. Sophomore Alex Sislo had a big Saturday - he started the day by jumping 6-2 to tie for 7th place in the high jump, and then set a personal record with a jump of 22-9.5 to capture 3rd in the long jump. The points from those two athletes in three events were enough to put the Explorers in the top 10 for the 3rd time in the last four years.

On Friday the Explorers got a gritty performance from senior Eddie Eason who jumped 14-0 in the pole vault, and placed 9th despite the windy conditions. On the track the 4x100 of Tabriz Bumpas, Winston Eubanks, Chris Della Donna, and Charles Headen ran 43.07 which was good for 12th overall (8 teams qualified for Saturday's final).

And the 4x800m relay of Michael Phayre, Stefan Sutton, Brendan Price, and Patrick Grant ran 8:08.26 for 16th overall (12 teams qualified for Saturday's final).
