Water Polo Team Sends Care Packages To Troops At Camp Manion in Iraq
The 3rd annual Water Polo Team Travis Manion Foundation Day of Service was held on Veterans Day with over 300 care packages being sent overseas.
On Veterans Day, the La Salle College High School Water Polo Team honored the memory of our fallen hero, Travis Manion '99, and all veterans who have bravely served in the military services by organizing, filling, and packaging over 300 care packages for troops stationed at Camp Manion in Iraq.
Thanks to the La Salle school community, we were able to include a Travis Manion Foundation notecard containing a handwritten message from one of our students or teachers in each package. This truly added a special touch to the La Salle Water Polo Team's 3rd annual TMF Day of Service.
In addition to the handwritten card, the 300 bags were filled with Travis Manion Foundation bracelets, hard candies, gum, granola bars, single serve drink packets, decks of cards, crossword/Sudoku puzzles, pens, blank notecards, blank Christmas cards, and chapstick. We had more donations than bags, so in addition to 16 boxes filled with 300 completed bags, there is another box filled with extra items to be shared with the troops.
Inside each box will be a photo of the team proudly wearing their TMF shirts. The afternoon was exceptionally rewarding remembering the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces.
