Devine Track To Host First Ever Explorers Invitational

The La Salle Track & Field team will host their first ever "Explorers Invitational" on the brand new Devine Track on Friday April 12th beginning at 3:30pm.  The Explorers will host 5 of the best teams in the state of Pennsylvania in a meet that should feature some outstanding competition.  In attendance will be the following teams:

Pennridge, fresh off a 4th place finish as a team at the Indoor State Championship where they won both the 4x400 and 4x800 relay titles.  

Lower Merion, placed 11th as a team at the Indoor State Championship.  

Central Bucks West, placed 17th as a team at the Indoor State Championship.  

St. Joe's Prep, the 2018 Indoor State Team Champions.

North Penn, one of the winningest teams in Southeastern PA.

Event highlights will include the following:

100m: 6 of the top 14 athletes in the State currently will be at La Salle, including athletes that have run 10.43, 10.73, 10.85, 10.87, and 10.95 which includes the Indoor State Champion in the 60m.  Leading the way for the Explorers will be the trio of Eric Ford, Jalen Hanton, and Peter Taylor who ran 11.0, 11.1, and 11.3 in PCL Meet #2 on Monday.  

200m: The top 9 seeds are all under 23.00.  Ford, Hanton, and Taylor will again lead the Explorers.

400m: The PA#1 will be in the race from Pennridge (48.29!).  Will Faunce will lead for La Salle.  

800m: Will feature 6 athletes who have run under 2:00.  The Explorers will be led by Mac Costonis and Michael Eastmond who are both sub 2:00 runners.  

1600m: Will be the season opening 1600m for three of the legs the Explorers used to win the Indoor State Championship DMR.  Vince Twomey, Jack Seiberlich, Paul Ghantous, Matt Zilligen (all 4 ran under 2:00 for 800m last week at the Knights Invitational, including Ghantous 1:57 win which is PA#4), and Griffin Pumilia have all run 4:30 or faster.  

3200m: Ethan Maher and Brady Koors opened their season last week at North Penn running 4:30 and 4:33 in the 1600m and are ready to debut at 3200m.    

110m HH & 300m IH: La Salle senior Luke Hardy looks to open up his season in the hurdles against several other State Qualifiers and medalists.  

Jumps: Sophomore High Jumper, and Indoor State Medalist Tommy Christie looks to go high in bot the High Jump and Pole Vault against some solid competition.  

Throws: The Explorers group of Brian Grady, Leland Mersky, Matt Zoglio, Liam Tatlonghari, Derek Beavers looks to mixed it up against fields that include athletes who have thrown over 140' in the discus, over 50' in the Shot Put, and over 180' in the Javelin.  

With all of this talent coming to campus and the Explorers ready to compete we expect many new track/facility records to be set.  But one record we can guarantee will be broken is the track record for the Mile run.  At 7:00pm La Salle will be hosting a special event, the first ever Devine-Donnelly Invitational Mile.  It will be a rabbited sub 4:00 mile attempt.  Here is the field for the historic attempt:

Charlie Marquardt, 3:55 miler and numerous time NCAA DIII All-American at Haverford College

Chris Hatler, 3:59 miler, 3:39 1500m runner, NCAA Qualifier and numerous time Ivy League Champion while at University of Pennsylvania 

Greg Morgan, senior at Haverford College, 4:05 miler, just ran 8:14 to win the NCAA DIII National Championship for 3,000m at the Indoor NCAA Championship, numerous time All-American 

Dylan Gearinger, 4:08 miler, ran 7:59 for 3k Indoors this year to qualify for the USATF Championship.  The 2018 NCAA DIII Indoor National Champion in the 3,000m.
