Our annual LSCHS Summer of Service kicked off on Sunday, May 26th with our Urban Immersion Group of rising Juniors spending a week in downtown Philadelphia.
This summer, rising junoirs will spend one week in Philadelphia as part of the Urban Immersion program, where they will work with a broad cross section of Catholic Social Service Agencies and Catholic grade schools, serving some of the most challenged neighborhoods in our community.
Rising Seniors will travel to Appalachia to work with Habitat for Humanity; Serve in the inner city neighborhoods of Chicago, the Bronx, San Francisco and Memphis; Serve the Native American populations on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and New Mexico as well as the Blackfeet reservation in Montana; Work alongside migrant farmers and the homeless in the Coachella Valley of California; Perform Hurricane relief and restoration in Puerto Rico; Minister to the people on the island of St. Lucia; and help those in need in Naples, Italy.
All students involved volunteer for the program, as there are no service hour requirements placed on students at La Salle. In addition, all funding for the program is sourced through a variety of fund raising initiatives and donations by parents.
