3. (Not required) Complete online Registration for Algebra and/or Spanish Workshop Courses
A new addition for the Summer of 2020 are two intensive online workshop courses in Spanish and Algebra offered in response to the challenges that all schools have been facing during the shift to exclusive online learning. These courses are offered to help students bolster skills in specific courses that were abbreviated or where some late-year topics were lost due to the interruptions of the pandemic in the spring. Both courses may also serve as review and preparation for placement tests in Spanish and Algebra that will take place in late June. Please note that completion of the workshop(s) does not automatically place a student in either Spanish 2 and/or Algebra 2. Additionally, it also important to know that these new summer course offerings are distinct and separate from the three-week, Pre-9th Grade Summer Program.
To read more about who should take the workshop courses, goals, and to register for them, please visit the Admissions/Summer Programs section of the LSCHS webpage.

Communications & Questions
For your reference, this page will house all of our communications to the Class of 2024.
March 27, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2024,
We write to you today to provide you with details regarding the Registration Process for the Class of 2024, as well as to introduce you to all of the related tasks and resources that will aid you and your son(s) with preparations for the upcoming academic year. And while we are not currently able to gather together at La Salle to provide you with this overview in person, please be assured that our administration, staff and faculty will be available to speak with you and assist you every step of the way!
Let us begin this introduction by highlighting that there is a good deal of information included in this email. All of it is important for parents/guardians to be familiar with and some of the information attached here will be needed in order to start completing various tasks assigned. So, in an effort to provide as clear instructions as possible, we would suggest that parents/guardians review this message in its entirety before exploring the various links included. Please also be aware that the videos attached differ in length, some taking only a few minutes to view, while others may take over 10 minutes.
Getting Started with Registration
First, please know that all of the tasks associated with the Class of 2024 Registration Process have been intentionally divided up into separate, monthly action items that we hope will serve to make the process as easy as possible to complete. That said, the general timeline and all instructions for completing every action item in the process can found on the Class of 2024 section of La Salle College High School’s webpage. This webpage will serve as the primary source for all things distributed to the Class of 2024 between now and a Back-to-School mailing in August.
Second, to help provide some context and a general overview of the webpage, we have created a short video. Not only will it walk parents, guardians and students quickly through the layout of the webpage, but it will also talk through all of the key events and tasks outlined in the Class of 2024 Registration timeline.
Third, one of the first tasks included in the month of April includes the updating of family profile information. As noted on the webpage, parents/guardians will need a username and password to enter the La Salle parent portal, in order to complete this important step. These can be found here:

Academic Orientation & Overview
One of the most critical tasks for an incoming freshman at La Salle is selecting courses and taking placement tests that will aid the school with determining the best starting point in various academic subjects. And while we do have course descriptions and placement information readily available in the Placement Information for the Class of 2024 document, we recognize that having the opportunity to also hear an administrator clarify some key information can be helpful. To that end, please take some time to view the Academic Overview video, which can be found in the “Tutorials” tab on the Class of 2024 webpage. This annotated slide deck runs approximately 20 minutes in length and provides illustrations and explanations to help families better understand our freshmen-year courses at La Salle. If parents/guardians would like to speak to someone regarding placement questions for a particular academic area, please see page 10 in the Placement Information document to access Department Chairperson names and email addresses.
Communications over the next few months
This email is the first in a series of bi-monthly communications that will be sent out from the school. Thus, parents and guardians should expect to receive these messages at least twice a month. These emails will serve as reminders for all the information included on the Class of 2024 webpage, in addition to timely information from our Admissions team and the Academic Affairs office. They may also include information to be shared directly with the students of the Class of 2024.
In addition to the respective contact people noted on the webpage under each task, La Salle will also be hosting a series of “Virtual Morning” sessions, where parents and students will have opportunities to make live connections and ask questions with current students, administrators and the freshman counselor. More information will be sent next week (our second email for March) regarding our first virtual session.
In conclusion, our faculty, staff, and administration are available daily via email to field any questions you have. We have tried to specify the person(s) parents/guardians should contact (and for which purposes) throughout the webpage, but please know that Mrs. Wheatley, Academic Affairs Assistant, is our go-to contact person for all questions related to the Class of 2024.
We do hope that the instructions provided here are clear enough to get everyone started with the Registration Process. We look forward to seeing you (be it virtually or in person) very soon!
Sincerely yours,
Kevin P. Whitney
Dean of Academic Affairs

Athletics
All students who wish to participate on a La Salle College High School athletic team must create an account in Appryse and submit an eligible physical prior to the opening day of tryouts for their sport. Appryse is a digital records system that replaces the PIAA paperwork. Once a student has an Appryse account, parents can download a physical form that must be completed by their physician, submitted through Appryse, and accepted by the athletic staff. La Salle does not accept PIAA paperwork.
Appryse is now open for pre-enrollment for next year. Parents can create their son’s account and download the physical form. All physicals for the 2020-2021 academic year must be dated on or after June 1, 2020. This is a state requirement; we have no ability to make exceptions. Students who plan to try out for fall teams should complete this process before August 5, 2020.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Eileen Campbell Campbelle@lschs.org or (215) 402-4132.
