Graduation

It is tradition that two elected student speakers give addresses at graduation. The candidates for speakers are self-nominated and then chosen by their classmates. The top six candidates from a class vote will write a speech and deliver it in front of a panel of faculty and administrators. The final decision for the Salutatorian (opening) and Valedictorian (closing) is made by that panel. The four students who are not chosen to speak at graduation will be offered to deliver the Baccalaureate address or read at the Baccalaureate mass.

Clergy Invitation

If you have a relative who is clergy that you would like to invite to concelebrate (priest) or assist (deacon) at this special Mass, please extend the invitation. Once you have secured a positive response please provide the following information to Mrs. Haggerty haggerty@lschs.org, by Monday, April 29:

• Your Name
• Priest’s or Deacon’s Name
• Priest’s or Deacon’s E-Mail Address

We would ask invited clergy to report to the church 45 minutes prior to the start time and to bring their own alb and stole. We will be in contact with your guest with any pertinent information for the Mass. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to this milestone. Please note, clergy from outside the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are required to bring a letter of good standing (Celebret Letter).

Academic Awards Ceremony

• Doors open 7:45 am, ceremony begins at 8 am
• Those who qualify for academic awards will receive an emailed invitation in early May. This event is for the awardees and their families.

• Graduates should wear their graduation gown, light dress shirt, tie, dress trousers, dark socks, and dress shoes
• NHS stoles will be distributed by Mrs. Fix prior to the Award Ceremony

Graduation Day Photos

Professional photographers will be present at both Baccalaureate Mass, as well as the Commencement Ceremony. Personal, family photos are permitted on Flannery Field and throughout the campus, after the ceremony has concluded.

We ask that the graduates of the Class of 2026 and their parents/guardians/guests come to the commencement ceremony in one automobile.  We need to limit the event to as few vehicles as possible because of limited parking.  We plan to park vehicles on Old Meehan Field (grass surface) but any inclement weather in the days prior to graduation may impede our ability to park there as planned.  Our school facilities and security personnel will be on hand to direct traffic flow, so please follow their directions.  There will be handicapped parking on campus in the lot closest to Flannery Field.  Two shuttle vehicles will be available to help transport guests with ambulatory difficulty down to Flannery Field seating.

Graduation gowns will be distributed in homerooms in advance of the graduation ceremony.

Once you arrive home, please try on your gown. As a general rule of thumb, the gown should fit somewhat loosely so that it hangs over your body without restricting movement. Lengthwise, your gown should fall eight to 10 inches from the ground so it covers everything but your feet and ankles. If you feel that your gown is not the correct size for you, contact Catrina Wheatley in Academic Affairs immediately.

The cap is a keepsake and should not be worn at graduation.
