For the summer of 2021 we are excited to offer an intensified two day service immersion program to all rising seniors and juniors, working in a variety of capacities in the Philadelphia area. Working in smaller groups, this program is designed to provide students with a hands-on exposure to the many challenges facing those in our community living below the poverty line. We will be working with many of our long-standing service partners in Kensington, North Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, and Center City with the primary focus of the program being on the issues of homelessness, food insecurity, addiction, isolation, and education. For more information on the program, including costs and the link to the application, please visit www.lschs.org/summerservice.

The Pheed Philly In-School Casserole (Homeless Outreach Cooking) will be running twice monthly from 2:45pm - 3:45pm in the auditorium. We are hoping the Outreach portion for the boys will return when policy allows. Every day over one million people in the Philadelphia area are faced with the issue of food insecurity. The Pheed Philly program prepares family sized nutritious meals for distribution to those in need in partnership with Mother Mercy House in Kensington. The program will run every other week throughout the second semester. Space is limited to ten students, and sign-ups are required. The sign-up sheet is located on the Mission & Ministry bulletin board adjacent to the Student Activities office. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Dominick in Campus Ministry or Mrs. Giuliani in the school store. The dates below are tentatively scheduled and may be subject to change.

A Message from Brother James Butler, FSC

As most of you will have seen, Governor Wolf has issued orders extending the closing of schools. The tentative earliest date schools may reopen is now set for Monday, April 6, 2020. As all of us have come to appreciate, this date is a guarantee written in water. Depending on the progress of the disease and the success of containment and suppression activities, this date will be subject to further extension if need be.
